{Real Wedding Decorations} Frederiksen Weddings

Friday, August 26, 2011 was a day filled with lavender hues, candy buffets, and magicians. Sean and Rachel had their ceremony in our courtyard site facing the quaint,calming fountain. Framing the fountain was a beautiful arch decorated in purple flowers and dangling diamonds.

Purple wooden fans and bubbles were given to guests as they took their seats for the ceremony. Included on each fan was a small, hand-written note with the wedding date and couples name, thanking guests for attending the wedding.  As the couple walked down the aisle as the new Mr. and Mrs. Frederiksen guests blew bubbles that enveloped the aisle.

The reception included ivory linens, ivory chair covers, lavender satin sashes. Table tops were decorated with floral arrangements that included lilies, purple roses, carnations, green foliage, and purple hued babies breath. Centerpieces alternated between bunched floral arrangements, manzanita trees that had purple orchids and gems placed along their branches, and tall candles.

During cocktail hour guests were entertained by a magician who amazed them with his card tricks. For dinner guests dined on the Italian menu and enjoyed dessert from the deliciously tempting sweet creations provided by Judy and the decadent three-tiered cake.

VIP events, Andrea’s Photography, and Sweet Creations by Judy did wonderful work on Rachel and Sean’s wedding. Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Frederiksen for having your wedding at Menifee Lakes Country Club.

Best wishes,

{Tuesday Tip}

Even if you regularly wear heels be sure to bring along a second, more comfortable, pair of shoes on your wedding day. Your going to be on your feet for hours and if this is the first time you will be wearing your new heels you may not know the outcome they will have on your little piggies. Therefore, bring a second pair of comfortable shoes you know will cure your foot pains and allow you to dance the night away pain-free!

{Real Wedding Decorations} Rice Wedding

Elva and Chris’s wedding has officially made burgundy our new favorite color. The ceremony and reception took place on Sunday, August 14, 2011. White tablecloths, white chair covers, and burgundy accents provided a romantic escape.

The ceremony was held on the golf course overlooking the lake. The altar was decorated with an arch drapped in flowers and ribbon.

Centerpieces included burgundy hued roses that almost looked like velvet. Inside the vase were jewels that illuminated the tables when the LED lights were placed in the center. It looked as if the sun was shining and twinkling on each diamond in the vase. Each place setting also received a favor box with small mints.

Not only was there a beautiful, giant cake accented with roses for Elva and Chris’ wedding there was also a cupcake tower for guests to enjoy.

Congratulations Elva and Chris! Best wishes.

{Real Wedding Decorations} Parker Wedding

Tables were adorned with framed Dr. Seuss quotes and photos of the bride and groom on Saturday, August 13, 2011. The color and demeanour of the room was  bright, cheerful, and unique for Lauren and David Parker’s wedding reception. The reception definitely showcased the bride and groom’s personal taste and style. Teal and pink were the colors for the reception and were incorporated in the framed letters the bride and groom penned to each other.  Lauren and David mixed and mingled with their extensive group of family and friends. Guests dined on appetizers, a large candy buffet from Sweet Creations by Judy, and cake from Jodee’s bakery.

The tables were covered in white floor length linens and draped with a Tiffany Blue Satin Overlay. At the center of each table was a coke bottle with the couples new last name and wedding date on a customized label.  Also included on the tables were frames in pink and teal with photos of the couple and fun sayings from their relationship . A few of our favorite sayings were:  “How sweet it is to be loved by you”, “Just living a fairytale”, and “TCFBYUC” which stands for “Thank Goodness For BYU Chemistry” where the couple met. The quotes displayed on the tables provided a peak into the bride and groom’s relationship.

The three-tiered cake provided by Jodee’s Bakery had white icing with white cut out hearts around the perimeter. The cake had a colorful, unique aspect to it as well that included a single teal heart.  The flavors included orange cake with mango mousse, almond cherry cake with pineapple baverin, and strawberry cake batter with chocolate shavings and a vanilla baverian similar to the taste of Neapolitan ice cream.

The cake topper featured a bride pulling the groom by the collar. This cake topper was unique from several others because this begrudging groom was adorned with Lakers memorabilia in honor of David’s favorite basketball team.

Later in the evening VIP Events played a video slide show of Lauren and David’s early childhood photos and played hits the guests could not help but get on the dance floor and do the two-step to.

Congratulations David and Rachel!!

{Tuesday Tip}

This Tuesday’s post is a tip and a bit of trivia brought to you by:

Jordan Almonds

No matter the color preference or traditions there always seems to be one item that shows up at weddings, Jordan Almonds. Whether displayed in elegantly wrapped bags of tulle, favor boxes, or candy buffets there always seems to be an abundance of Jordan Almonds at weddings. This led us to ponder several questions: Why are Jordan Almonds a staple at weddings?  Do several couples rank Jordan Almonds as their favorite candy? Are they a  traditional wedding favor, or a sweet treat that appeals to all palettes?

Well my friends we can ponder no longer. The answer to our question is this, Jordan Almonds are a traditional wedding favor.  The tradition dates back to medieval times when wealthy patrons would present their guests with mini bags filled with sugar. During the medieval era sugar was extremely expensive and when wedding attendants were presented with plentiful bags of sugar it gave guests the impression that the bride and groom were wealthy, high society figures. In the years that passed the sugar favor eventually evolved into what modern-day brides give away today, almonds covered in a sweet, candy coating. The symbolism behind the favor also developed into a much deeper meaning than wealth and now symbolizes both the sweetness and bitterness of marriage.

This leaves us with one more question regarding the Jordan Almond mystery; why are they given away in clusters of five? Five almonds are given to guests  to symbolize the five traits of a good marriage: health, wealth, longevity, fertility, and happiness. Who knew candy was so meaning full?

Now that we have discovered the real reason why these delicious candy treats appear at weddings we can’t help but like them even more. They have a romantic and deeply rooted meaning that bride’s across the world can’t help but include in their wedding.

Favors with a twist!

Why not sass up those ordinary boxes and give guests a sneak peek into the possible goodies inside? Add a little flair by cutting out a shape or your initials on one side. Next, wrap your jelly beans or Jordan Almonds in plastic bags and you have created a favor with a twist!

{Real Wedding Decorations} Shindle Wedding

Friday, August 5, 2011 was a beautiful, wonderfully tempertaured day for the ceremony and reception of Adam and Teresa Shindle.

The tables featured black floor length linens, white napkins, and black chair covers with a white satin sash. Teresa created the center pieces and  bouquets herself and for the record this was her first experience with floral arrangements and she did a wonderful job. Flowers included white and pink roses, purple carnations, and baby’s breath that were placed in square vases with gel beads that illuminated purple and pink light from the mini LED lights placed in the center of the arrangements. Scattered around the vases were mini diamonds that made the table sparkle and shine when the candlelight and lights from the vases shined upon them. Teresa was up until 3am the day of her wedding putting the final detailed ribbons and final touches on the flowers. Placed at both ends of the head table were tall vases that featured a tall arrangement of purple carnations and baby’s breath.

Head Table

The cake table featured a white two tiered cake with a thin purple swirl detail on the front. Placed beside the cake were two vases that featured candles around the base and accented by diamonds to add just enough sparkle to the table. The couple also had a dessert station to complement the cake which included: assorted cookies of oatmeal, chocolate chip, and m&m cookies, miniature cheesecake bites in raspberry white chocolate, chocolate, and original flavor, miniature red velvet mini cupcakes, brownie bites, and cream puffs.

Dessert Table

Reverend Charlie Thorn officiated the ceremony and included a personalized sand ceremony that included guest participation. At the guest book was a small heart vase that guests placed a scoop of multi colored sand into with a wish for Teresa and Adam. The heart vase represented the unity of their family and friends into one vessel. The vase was then used during the ceremony where Teresa and Adam added the final grains of sand. Also included on the sign in table was a small autograph plate that each guest signed and left a small message on.

The remainder of the evening was left for guest to dance and drink the night away. Best wishes to  Adam and Teresa!
