{Real Wedding Decorations} Solis Wedding

November 11, 2011 was a day to celebrate the marriage of Marybeth and Richard Solis. The couple had their ceremony on the golf course overlooking the pristine lakes of Menifee Lakes Country Club. Fifty-seven of the couples closest friends and family watched as the couple exchanged their vows under an iron rod arch decorated with pink roses and Gerber daisies provided by Michael’s Flower Girl.

The reception tables were draped in floor length black linen, ivory napkins, ivory chair covers, and black organza sashes. The couple utilized the floral arrangements from the ceremony as the reception centerpieces. The arrangements were placed on tall vases that were filled with pink colored water. Each guest received a bottle of Pale Ale beer the couple customized with labels that included their names and wedding date. The couple kept the beer theme in tact when it came time to assign tables, each table was given a brewery name.

The cake was beautiful and had edible glitter on it! The flavor of the cake was  Tequila Lime with mango mousse filling and buttercream frosting. Paired with the cake were enormous, red velvet cupcakes with cheese cake frosting and pecans from Amore Cheesecake.

The couple made their epic grand entrance to Bruno Mars’ “Marry You”, a personal favorite. Then, the party was officially kicked off. Congratulations Marybeth and Richard!

{Tuesday Tip} Special Outfits for all those “other events”

While flipping through the November 2011 issue of BRIDES  magazine we came across a few pages talking about all the “other” memorable outfits you will be wearing leading up to your walk down the aisle. Several other occasions that require outfits are the engagement party, bridal shower, bachelorette party,  rehearsal dinner, morning after brunch, and of course the honeymoon. When you think about it these outfits add up to a whole wedding wardrobe filled with casual and formal attire.  It’s best to think ahead about what you envision yourself wearing so you’re not  scrambling to find an outfit at the last-minute.  So start now and spread the word with your girlfriends so you can find that  perfect outfit.

{Real Wedding Decorations} Wells Wedding

Elegance summed up Rosemarie and Charles reception on Saturday, November 5, 2011. A wet, crisp fall day gave way to a beautiful reception with a beaming couple.

Mr. and Mrs. Wells had floor length ivory linens, ivory napkins, ivory chair covers with champagne organza sashes, and embroidered overlays with satin detail provided by Unique Weddings and Flowers. Magnolia’s Flowers complimented the color scheme wonderfully. The flowers provided the perfect amount of color and complimented the warm colors of fall. Flowers included gorgeous roses in a warm copper tone and lush peach. Also included in the arrangements were white Lillies, white Hydrangeas, babies breath, and green foliage. The vases showcased the intertwined branches and twigs of the centerpiece and really gave it that fall feel.

Guests dined on a lavish feast that began with cocktail hour which featured: cheese and cracker, chilled jumbo shrimp, Raspberry Almond Brie, fresh fruit, and sliced salmon on a cucumber round.

Dinner included 3 salad options: baby greens with feta cheese, candied walnuts, bell tomatoes, and cranberry vinaigrette dressing, a Caesar Salad, and pasta salad with baby shrimp. Entrees included a chef carved station that featured Filet Mignon and Roasted Pork Tenderloin. Accompaniments included wild rice pilaf, seasonal fresh vegetables, sourdough rolls, and a mashed potato bar. The potato bar was the high lite of the dinner for the guests. Garlic Mashed Potatoes or Yukon Gold Potatoes were served in martini glasses with assorted toppings that included bacon bits, cheese, chives, and sour cream.

Michelle’s Bakery provided the three-tiered cake. Flavors included German Chocolate, Lemon with fresh Raspberries, and Raspberry Victorian. Two kayaks were placed on the top of the cake to incorporate the couple’s love of kayaking and outdoor sports.

DJ Benji, of VIP Events, did a wonderful job hosting the evening and kept the party rolling.

Everything came together for the evening’s reception and it looked absolutely beautiful. Congratulations Rosemarie and Charles!

{Tuesday Tip} Ceremony focal point

Brides magazine is definitely serving up wonderful tips in their November 2011 issue. We particularly liked the article about ceremony focal points and how you don’t need a generic, obvious, alter site. Instead, think outside the box and look for locations that offer towering trees, fountains, chandeliers, antique doors, and utilize their quirky charm to hold your ceremony.

We love this idea because many brides come in with the mind-set of “I need an altar …. I need … I need….”, when in reality all you really need is a nice location for the ceremony to take place. If you are choosing not to have your ceremony in a church, be creative and choose a location you love. This a wonderful opportunity for you to break tradition and pull it off magnificently. Plus, if you choose a large, focal point for your ceremony site it cuts down on your decorations. Think big cascading fountains, big oversized doors, and natures magical wonders. Clearly we are describing something we  see almost everyday, the courtyard ceremony site here at Menifee Lakes Country Club. We are lucky enough to have both the cascading fountain and grand over sized doors that appear generic and an everyday necessity you would otherwise disregard when thinking of a ceremony location. However, when you incorporate the chairs, the aisle runner, and fill it with your family and friends it becomes the perfect wedding location. Incorporate what your venue offers. Think big and think outside the box!

{Friday Find} You can always get it cheaper…

We stumbled upon a blog post from Sasha Souza an event designer and Hilary Smith her Blog Editor and daughter who created the Sparkliatti blog.
