San Diego Style Wedding Magazine’s Spring Fling

What an adventure! San Diego Style Wedding Magazine’s Spring Fling was filled with fun times and complimented by delicious food and drinks that left us wanting more. The Spring Fling was an opportunity for advertising vendors of the magazine to come together, mix and mingle, and truly experience one another’s products.

The Spring Fling took place at the beautiful Rancho La Jolla Estates grounds that are perched high atop cliffs overlooking the ocean (www.rancholajolla.net ). The lower “garden” level offered lush grass that tied in perfectly with the garden and cherry blossom theme for the evening. Strung overhead were glowing pink paper lanterns and unique Alice in Wonderland themed abstract furniture pieces in hues of pinks and white for guests to sit and take it all in.

To our delight the first thing we were treated to upon our arrival was a tempting candy buffet by Tailored Sweets ( http://tailoryoursweets.com/index.html ). The modern, chic display allowed guests to assembly candy bags of pink jelly beans, fortune cookies, marshmallows dipped in pink hued chocolate, strawberry shortcake, chocolate dipped pretzels, and cherry soda that had everyone’s mouths stained red. They have wonderful, cute themed treats for any occasion as well as a fabulous blog on their home page.

With all the sugar running through our veins we felt awake and animated so why not get a caricature artist to transform us into cartoonish versions of ourselves? The wonderful Dave Stephens (www.davefreemanstephens.com ) did just that and animated our bubbly personalities as we enjoyed the bubbly signature cocktail for the evening, champagne and cherry syrup, the cherry blossom. The ongoing theme was spring pink and cherry blossoms that tied in perfectly with the cover of the February/March 2011 magazine issue.

The vendors that provided the food at the mixer were phenomenal! The first plate we sampled came from Crown Point Catering ( www.crownpointcatering.com ). They served us a strawberry salad and complimented it with a sweet and delicate cut of salmon that was to die for. It was the most talked about dish between Christa and I for the evening.

Complementing the delicious dishes and drinks was a live jazz band that left are feet dancing along with our tummies.

From the lower level we followed the lit path to the upper estate grounds were the aromas from Authentic Flavors Catering offered us another treat, a Cherry Coke Float. They were sweet and had a true cherry for the last bite. Not only did their booth offer sweet treats, their floral arrangements were enormous!

From the catering table we ventured inside the estate to marvel at the astounding art pieces and furnishings inside. While inside we got to get our first peek at our ad in the San Diego Style Wedding April/May 2011 issue! From there we walked out to the beautiful pool area that is typically used as the reception site for weddings at the facility.

The booth that instantly caught our eye was the Smilebooth Photo Booth (www.smilebooth.com ). They had fun props you could utilize and the music provided by the DJ for the evening allowed us to embrace our inner supermodel and goof ball for the photos.

Next, the highlight of your addicted event planner’s night, THE ESPRESSO BAR!! We had found our true vice, indulgence, and fix for the evening. It was a coffee lovers dream!! The Euro Bar ( www.eurobarespresso.com ) offered organic coffee, espresso, and cappuccino for the evening. Our beverage of choice, a White Mocha Cappuccino.

You can truly tell how thrilled we were due to the blurry photo. We could not wait to enjoy a cappuccino.

With cappuccino in hand we went looking for a nice spot to lounge in order to take another look through the magazine. We found fluffy couches next to a fountain situated perfectly next to a decadent cupcake tower. What could possibly go better together than coffee, cupcakes, and a magazine? It was true bliss.

It was a wonderful opportunity to attend the Spring Fling. We were able to pick up the new issue before it hit newsstands and we got to meet featured vendors in the magazine. The ambiance truly made us feel like we were attending a wedding reception minus the presence of the bride and groom. It was a treat to experience and feel like you were a part of a wedding and not on the planning side of it. From a guests point of view, we were able to experience and partake in the festivities that we only suggest to brides. At the event we got the opportunity to see and experience the color schemes, flowers, decorations, and themes, as a whole with the giddiness of an attending guest. It made doing what we do that more rewarding because this is how we want all brides to feel on their wedding day. By assisting them and bearing the burden of planning it allows them to feel true joy for themselves and their guests on the day of their wedding.

Thank you for the wonderful evening San Diego Style and Rancho La Jolla!
