{Friday Find} Skimping on The Rest

PRIORITIES, PRIORITIES

RANK YOUR PRIORITIES

First and foremost, decide what facets of your wedding are most important to you.  Focus on areas that make your heart go pitter-patter, and you’ll feel OK about skimping on the rest.

unnamed-2

As for what guests tend to remember, according to a survey conducted by St. Louis Bride and Groom magazine, 81 percent of guests say the entertainment is the most memorable part of a wedding.

This is great advice from Martha Stewart Weddings and we couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

A Winter White Wonderland Wedding

enchanted-forest-mwds109266_vert

Abby spent many family vacations in Beaver Creek, Colorado, and always knew that she would get married there some day. But even though she and her future husband, Cliff, had dated since high school in Mobile, Alabama, she didn’t initially peg him as the groom. Four years of long distance on-again, off-again later, they got serious. She moved back to Cliff in Mobile, and a year and a half later, he proposed.

Abby wasn’t fazed by the prospect of long-distance wedding planning, and with the help of a planner, the couple pulled off a glamorous ski-lodge wedding, with bursts of metallic gold to play off Colorado’s snowy landscape.

{Tuesday Tip} Finalizing the Flower Details

untitled-12Make sure to finalize all your wedding day details with your florist.  Confirm delivery details and decided which arrangements will be moved from the ceremony to the reception site.

Don’t forget to plan for someone to move these items if your florist will not be on site after the ceremony to do so.  If space and time allows we recommend moving all your ceremony flowers to your reception to fully enjoy them on your wedding day.

Also plan where those beautiful bouquets will be placed during the reception.

{Tuesday Tip} Color Over It With Chalk

Chalk.

Keep a stick of white chalk handy while you’re getting ready. In the event that you spill or  brush your dress against something take a stick of chalk and lightly “color” over the stain. Chalk is great for footprints on your train.  The chalk will mask an unwanted splashes of color and keep your dress in pristine condition. Chalk is also fantastic for occupying bored flower girls and ring bearers. So keep some chalk on hand.

{Tuesday Tip} Talk to Your DJ

Here is a simple tip to help you keep the music you like going at your reception.

untitled-12

Talk to your Band or DJ before the wedding to discuss whether you are okay with song requests from guests and how to handle them. You don’t want to have to deal with it the night of the wedding or worse hear a song you can not stand over and over again.

Happy 2nd Anniversary Mr. & Mrs. Wells

Today marks the second anniversary for another fabulous couple.

Elegance summed up Rosemarie and Charles reception on Saturday, November 5, 2011. A wet, crisp fall day gave way to a beautiful reception with a beaming couple.

Mr. and Mrs. Wells had floor length ivory linens, ivory napkins, ivory chair covers with champagne organza sashes, and embroidered overlays with satin detail provided by All Occasion Rentals. Magnolia’s Flowers complimented the color scheme wonderfully. The flowers provided the perfect amount of color and complimented the warm colors of fall. Flowers included gorgeous roses in a warm copper tone and lush peach. Also included in the arrangements were white Lillies, white Hydrangeas, babies breath, and green foliage. The vases showcased the intertwined branches and twigs of the centerpiece and really gave it that fall feel.

Guests dined on a lavish feast that began with cocktail hour which featured: cheese and cracker, chilled jumbo shrimp, Raspberry Almond Brie, fresh fruit, and sliced salmon on a cucumber round.

Dinner included 3 salad options: baby greens with feta cheese, candied walnuts, bell tomatoes, and cranberry vinaigrette dressing, a Caesar Salad, and pasta salad with baby shrimp. Entrees included a chef carved station that featured Filet Mignon and Roasted Pork Tenderloin. Accompaniments included wild rice pilaf, seasonal fresh vegetables, sourdough rolls, and a mashed potato bar. The potato bar was the high lite of the dinner for the guests. Garlic Mashed Potatoes or Yukon Gold Potatoes were served in martini glasses with assorted toppings that included bacon bits, cheese, chives, and sour cream.

Michelle’s Bakery provided the three-tiered cake. Flavors included German Chocolate, Lemon with fresh Raspberries, and Raspberry Victorian. Two kayaks were placed on the top of the cake to incorporate the couple’s love of kayaking and outdoor sports.

DJ Benji, of VIP Events, did a wonderful job hosting the evening and kept the party rolling.

Congratulations Rosemarie and Charles on your Second Wedding Anniversary!
