Jamie and Brad Proffitt were married on October 9, 2011 and had a gorgeous, chic, intimate, ceremony and reception at Menifee Lakes Country Club. We featured their amazing wedding in our Real Decoration Feature and fell in love with the flowers Jamie created herself. You can view the Real Wedding Post here:

http://ccwedblog.wordpress.com/2011/10/14/real-wedding-decorations-proffit-wedding/.

Mr. and Mrs. Proffitt have quickly become our picture perfect couple, quite literally. Their photos are featured on our bridal postcards, advertisements, and on our website. They have been so gracious to let us share their wedding photos and we know have the honor of sharing their personal wedding story. It brought tears to Christa’s eyes and goes to show that first, true love is real and can stand the test of time.

Once upon a time. . .

How did you meet?

Brad and I met in the first grade, where we attended private school together. He had a huge crush on me then until he left in the third grade. Through the years we came in contact a few times, but really reconnected in October 2010 through a women’s Bible study class his mom, Debbie and I were in together. She tells everyone how she picked me for her son and prayed that Brad and would get together. As we now know her prayers are very powerful!

Describe the proposal.

We went to a resort in Palm Springs with some of our family members for my 32nd birthday. That Saturday, July 16th, as I was getting ready to go to dinner Brad took his two sons, Cylis and Colton, to his sister’s room then came back to get me for dinner. As we walked out of our room and down the stairs our family members were holding signs Brad’s sister Brianna had made that read, “Jamie, will you marry me?” The boy’s held a “u” and an “s” for “us”. Brad got down on one knee holding the ring and asked me. I said, “Yes! Yes! Yes!”

Your Fairy tale Come True. . .

What personal touches did you incorporate into your wedding?

The whole wedding was all about love and family. Family is the most important thing to both Brad and I, so it was very important that message came through as well as our love for each other and our two boys. Also, my grandfather and Brad’s uncle passed away several years ago and both men played a huge role in our lives growing up. I wanted to do something special in remembrance, so I made little tiny, photo frames with their pictures pinned with a ribbon for each family member to wear. Mine was on my bouquet and Brad’s on his boutonierre.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

There were so many memorable moments but I think everyone would agree that when I said my vows to Brad’s boys, Cylis and Colton there wasn’t a dry eye in the place. I love them as my own and it was important that they know my promise is to them as well. They were so excited that we got “married”.

What menu did you choose?

We chose the Italian menu. Brad’s part Italian and it happens to be my favorite type of food.

Describe your cake.

We chose cupcakes! Since our wedding was all about family and there are a lot of little ones, we wanted something the kids would really enjoy. Just so happens that they looked fabulous on the cake tree I bought.

What flowers did you use?

I did all of the flowers myself with the help of my mom, sister, Brad’s sister, Brianna, and my best friends Kelly and Jenn. I was so excited with how they turned out. I wanted a very vibrant, romantic yet wild arrangement.

What was your something blue, borrowed, old, new?

I did not necessarily adhere to certain traditions.

Describe your shoes.

Sparkle! Sparkle! Sparkle! Everyone that knows me knows that I love sparkle.

What accessories did you wear?

Understated accessories. Pearls and sparkle to highlight the dress.

Describe your dress.

Lacy, fitted, vintage! I love, love, loved my dress! I felt very old Hollywood glamorous!

What were the highlights of the ceremony?

Again, my vows to the boys.

Did you have a theme for your ceremony or reception?

Vintage, old world glamour!

Your Happily Ever After . . .

We are so thankful to Menifee Lakes for helping us to have the perfect day. We are beyond flattered that you have chosen to use our photos for advertisements. Our intention was to have a small elegant, intimate wedding, but it was so much more. And the marriage and new family we have created together have been such a blessing.

Once upon a time . . . .

How did you meet?

My husband and I met through a friend and then reconnected by joining a co-ed softball team!

Describe the proposal.

We were in Las Vegas in front of the water show at the Bellagio while the song “This Kiss” played. His hands were wrapped around me and he slipped the ring in my pocket as he placed his hands in them and slipped the ring on my finger and whispered in my ear “ Oriana, I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me?” and I said YES!!

Your Fairytale come true . . .

What personal touches did you incorporate into your wedding?

I added my favorite flower which is a Gerber daisy into the center pieces and also added our favorite color into the tuxedos and dresses!

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

The most memorable moment of our wedding day was when they brought me to the middle of the stairs to meet my groom! He was waiting at the top of the stairs and watching him walk down to me brought tears to both of our eyes and he told me, “ You look so beautiful.” It made me fall in love with him all over again in that instant!

What Menu did you choose?

The Menifee Lakes Buffet. We had Tri Tip Medallions in a Wild Mushroom Demi Glaze, Chicken Parmsean, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Green Bean Almondine, and Sourdogh Rolls.

Describe your cake.

Our cake was teal and white and the top-tier looked like a Tiffany & Co ring box!

What flowers did you use?

We used Gerber Daisies, Hydrangeas, white roses and Lilies.

What was your something blue, borrowed, old, new?

I used my birthstone earrings which are blue and old, I borrowed my mother’s crown pin to clip on my bouquet, and I wore my wedding dress which was new!!!

Describe your shoes.

I wore Tom’s shoes! They were an ivory color. I chose to wear these shoes because I wanted to be comfortable and I thought it was cute!

What accessories did you wear?

I only wore earrings and a promise ring my husband gave me when we were dating! And of course my wedding ring. I thought  my dress had enough character that I did not want to take away from my dress!

Describe your dress.

It was ivory with a heart-shaped strapless top. It had a jeweled belt, like strap going around, below my bust with a beautiful broach on the right side. It was very frilly and had different layers of waves going down the dress.

What were the highlights of your ceremony?

I loved the father-daughter dance and watching my husband dancing with his mother as well! I thought it was cute when the guests kept ringing their glasses to make me and my groom kiss!

Did you have any vendor or D.J. highlights?

We had an amazing D.J! He made the reception very fun! He had one guest from each table stand up and sing a song to the groom and I that had the word “LOVE” in it! It was very funny! Also we had a candy bar with all our favorite treats and they incorporated our wedding colors in them as well!

Did you have a theme for your ceremony or reception?

We are young and wanted something fun but still classy! We had our favorite colors, teal and ivory, and used that throughout the venue!

Your Happily Ever After . . .

My husband and I now live in Las Vegas where it all began! We just bought our first home and plan on starting a family here in Vegas! We want to thank Menifee Lakes Country Club for allowing us to share our special day with them and providing us with what needed to make our day so magical!

We met at work. Sean came in for an interview and while waiting for the manager I was introduced to him by a coworker.

Sean took me to South Coast Winery after a very stressful day at work. It was a cold evening and our dinner and wine was the best treatment! After dinner Sean took me for a walk around the winery. He was wandering around everywhere almost like he was lost. Finally, we came to a gated area where we saw a wedding in progress the summer before. It was 3 tiers with 3 layers in each tier. The bottom tier was square, the second and third were round. Each tier was different with different fillings. We featured Leah and Jonathan’s wedding in one of our Real Wedding Decoration Posts   < http://ccwedblog.wordpress.com/2011/09/28/real-wedding-decorations-smith-wedding/> and are excited to expand on their special day with their personal wedding story featured below.

We were delighted to have Leah and Jonathan’s ceremony and reception at Menifee Lakes Country Club on Saturday, September 24, 2011. Leah was a wonderful bride to work with and was over the moon to get married to Jonathan. We throughly enjoyed the wedding countdown she posted on her Facebook leading up to her wedding date. We were thrilled to have such an excited bride, a group of wonderful vendors to pull it together, and Imagery Concepts to capture it all. Leah submitted a wedding story detailing her wedding process and included a few behind the scenes tid bits. Enjoy!

Leah and Jonathan Smith’s Wedding Story

Once Upon a Time….

How did you meet?

Jonathan and I went to the same high school and had the same friends but never met until the day he found me on MySpace in 2007. We talked for about a month over the phone and through the internet. We then decided to go with some friends to the beach, unfortunately all of our friends bailed out, but that gave us even more time to hang out and get to know each other. Friendship to me was the key and after a month of talking and hanging out he asked me to be his girlfriend and the rest is history.

Describe the proposal…..

Jonathan and I went on vacation to Las Vegas, Nevada for our 2 year anniversary. On the day of our anniversary, we were walking the strip and came across the Bellagio fountains. As the music played in the background we sat and  watched. Once the fountain show was over, I was ready to go across the street to the Eiffel Tower but Jon kept telling me to wait a second. All of the sudden he grabbed my hand looked at me went down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Being me, my first response was,  ” Did you talk to my parents?”  He of course said yes, and then I said, ”  Of course I will marry you!”

Your Fairytale Come True….

What personal touches did you incorporate in you wedding?

My family played a huge part in making my special day come to life from the invitations, to the centerpieces at the reception, it was truly a dream come true. We were able to incorporate our favorite color, blue, throughout the whole entire wedding process. We were able to make one of a kind invitations, wedding favors, and centerpieces that incorporated our personalities and our favorite candy. On the day of the wedding my mother also made Jonathan’s favorite cookies, snicker doodles, to put beside the cake.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

That is easy, walking down the aisle with my dad, looking straight ahead, and seeing the man of my dreams standing and waiting for me. It was truly magical to know that as soon as I saw him nothing else mattered.

What menu did you choose?

We decided to go with the Italian menu because it fit our budget and you can never go wrong with Italian cuisine. Plus it was super yummy!!!

Describe your cake?

When I was finally in the midst of planning my wedding, I knew that I had to have Michelle’s bakery in Redlands. They make the most yummy and beautiful cakes. Since I was not able to decide on a flavor, my cake had 3 tiers with a different flavor at each tier. My bottom tier was a vanilla raspberry, middle tier was a chocolate toffee, and the top-tier was a triple chocolate, it was all topped with a rich and yummy butter cream frosting. The decoration on the cake was simple, elegant, and went perfect with the atmosphere and our personalities.

What flowers did you use?

Details and Bloom made the bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres. They were all made with white and yellow roses tied with blue and gold around the stems. My family and myself made the centerpieces and décor in the ceremony. Centerpieces were made with white Chinese mum’s, daisy’s, and yellow babies breaths followed by blue gems that filled the bottom. The ceremony flowers were made with Hydrangeas, daisy’s and tea leafs.

What was your something blue, borrowed, old, and new?

My something blue was my garter, borrowed was my bracelet and necklace, old was my earrings, and new was my veil and dress.

Describe your shoes?

My shoes were classic white satin that went absolutely perfect with my dress and were super comfortable and easy to walk in.

What accessories did you wear?

I wore earrings, a necklace, a bracelet, and of course my absolutely stunning veil.

Describe your dress?

My dress was simply elegant and was absolutely my dream wedding gown. The brooch in the center was just enough décor followed by the corset back and the crystals that flowed down.

What were the highlights of your ceremony?

Walking down the aisle to the love of my life and reading the vows that we each had written. It brought many happy tears.

Did you have any vendor or DJ highlights?

I absolutely loved all of my vendors and am so thankful that everyone was super flexible and understanding when I had to make a few minor changes throughout the reception. Mark,  from Pro weddings was our DJ and he did an absolutely amazing job with getting everyone up and dancing. And of course Imagery Concepts did an amazing job with capturing our special day. Extremely amazed at all of my pictures.

Did you have a theme for your ceremony or reception?

No theme just a color palate of blue, yellow, and white.

Your Happily Ever After…..

If someone ever asks me if I found the man of my dreams, without a doubt I can say, ” yes “. He is literally everything that I could have ever asked for and more. We are loving married life and just past our two month mark.

Thank you Menifee Lakes for making a dream wedding come to life!!!!

Love ,

Jonathan and Leah Smith

Here is our first Menifee Lakes Wedding Story!

We submitted a questionnaire to past Menifee Lakes Country Club brides to get a first hand account of their planning process from the engagement, to the walk down the  aisle for future brides to look at during their planning process. We complied questions about the engagement, planning, vendors, color schemes, cake, as well as highlites from the day. Look for future wedding stories to come!!

Our first comes from Kimberly Riley. She had her ceremony and reception on June 6, 2010.

Kimberly Riley’s Menifee Lakes Country Club Wedding Story

Their first kiss as man and wife

Once upon a time . . . .

How did you meet?

I was hanging out with my friend and we had stopped to get gas at AMPM. My husband pulled up in his truck and his brother came over to introduce himself. Turns out, he knew my friend so we went to hang out at his house. My husband and I hit it off immediately and thus our love story continues…

Describe the proposal.

It was a romantic Football Sunday afternoon (heck I don’t even think it was noon yet) and we went to RJ’s Sizzling Steer in Murrieta to watch the games with some friends. While getting snockered off of drinks and shots we decided to have an in-depth conversation about having kids. My husband, Brian, stated he did not want to have kids after he was thirty and I told him I was not even thinking of kids until we were married. Then he said,

“Well let’s go get one then!”

And so on November 1, 2009, with designated driver on hand of course, I picked out my beautiful engagement ring from Zales, with a shirt that read “Beer’s cold, I’m Hot” and managed to remember it all the next morning!

Your Fairytale come true . . .

What personal touches did you incorporate into your wedding?

Our song ended up becoming “It’s Tricky” by Run DMC. It was playing the night we came home from my parent’s house to tell them the news about the engagement (also when Brian asked my dad if it was okay).

After that, and several other occasions, the song  just stuck so we decided to use it as our first dance. We also share a love of music and walked down the aisle to less traditional songs from the Foo Fighters, Nora Jones and Bob Marley. Menifee Lakes was also very accommodating in letting us decorate the reception and ceremony areas how we wished.

♥What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

Dancing with my dad, and seeing Brian’s eyes get a little teary-eyed, and making his brother cry! (in a good way)

What Menu did you choose?

The Italian menu, if I remember correctly. I was the bride, I barely ate! LOL but I was told by many of the guests how good the food was!

Describe your cake.

3 tier-traditional white , with a scroll design,  and a ribbon with our bridesmaid’s dress color around it. Also, I found a monogrammed R to go on top of it. Frosting was butter cream, inside was white cake with vanilla almond custard. Supplied by Sweet Layers!

What flowers did you use?

Dark red, almost black roses, orchids and dahlias. They were beautiful! Supplied by Fiore Wholesale Flowers-Stephanie is awesome down there!!

What was your something blue, borrowed, old, new

 Something blue was my undies.

Something old was my first diamond ring my dad bought me for high school graduation.

Something new was my jewelry I wore.

Something borrowed was a paperclip my flower girl threw down my dress, that she gave to me, but wanted back after I was done with it.

Describe your shoes.

Flat, white sandals, with a strap around the ankle that had a white flower on it.

What accessories did you wear?

Diamond stud earrings, a 50’s style glamour necklace, a thin bracelet, and a birdcage veil with two white flowers in my hair.

Describe your dress.

All white, strapless, form-fitting, chapel train

What were the highlights of your ceremony?

My dad giving me away, kissing my husband, and waiting for my brother-in-law to fall into the planter because he had too much to drink beforehand.

Did you have any vendor or D.J. highlights?

I had the most amazing vendors! DJ played all the right songs, and my photographer is by far the BEST!! Courtney from Fairytale Creations photography!

Did you have a theme for your ceremony or reception?

No set theme except to have fun, be laid back, and enjoy our friends and family!

Your Happily Ever After . . .

Almost been a year now, no kids in our plans for the future, but you never know. We are enjoying adjusting to married life. What is his is mine and what is mine is mine, I am still trying to teach him that HAHA! The fun part is being able to use his last name, although I will NEVER change my name again!

It’s a wonderful life!
